Geo Guessr

Daily

How to play

1. Each day brings five scenes from the anime, the same for everyone.

2. Pin where the scene takes place on the map of Paradis Island and Marley. Zoom in: the districts sit on the Walls.

3. Anywhere inside the right place scores the full 5,000. A near miss still scores well; the farther away, the fewer points.

4. Easy, Medium and Hard are three separate daily runs with their own scenes and boards. Hard is stricter on distance.

Geo Guessr is a daily map game for Attack on Titan fans. Every day it shows five scenes from the anime, from the first season's fall of Shiganshina to the Final Chapters, and asks one question each time: where on the map did this happen?

The map is our own illustration of Paradis Island, drawn from the anime's staff map of the island, with the three Walls at their canon sizes: Wall Sina 250 km from the centre, Wall Rose 130 km further out, Wall Maria 100 km beyond that. The twelve districts sit on the Walls at the compass points, Mitras in the middle, and the places in between are drawn where the story puts them: Utgard Castle near Wall Rose in the south-west, Ragako and Dauper in the southern farmland, the Reiss chapel east of Orvud. Across the sea, an inset of Marley holds Liberio, its harbour, Fort Slava, Odiha and Fort Salta.

How to play Geo Guessr

Look at the scene, then pan and zoom the map and tap where you think it was. When you lock your pin in, the answer appears: the place lights up, a line runs from your pin to it, and you see the distance that was scored.

Each scene is worth up to 5,000 points, so a perfect day is 25,000. A pin anywhere inside the right place scores the full 5,000; outside it, the score falls smoothly with the distance to the edge of the place, so a near miss still scores well and a pin on the wrong side of the island scores little.

Easy, Medium and Hard are three separate daily runs with their own scenes and their own leaderboards. Easy shows the iconic establishing shots, Hard shows back streets, interiors and lesser-known places, and its scoring falls off faster with distance.

Tips for a higher score

Start with the Walls. Most scenes are inside one of the twelve districts or Mitras, and each district has a look: Shiganshina's canal and windmills under Wall Maria, Trost's crowded red roofs and the boulder in its gate, Stohess' grey stone and its leaning tower, Orvud's cannons on the wall.

Use what the scene tells you about the time. A scene from the Survey Corps' first expedition is likely near Karanes or the Forest of Giant Trees; a Season 2 night under a ruined tower is Utgard Castle; streets with gas lamps, armbands and trains are Marley, not Paradis.

When you are unsure between two places, pin between them. The score is measured to the edge of the right place, so a pin halfway between two neighbouring districts never scores badly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the map accurate?

The coastline of Paradis is traced from the anime's own map of the island and the Walls use the canon radii given in the first episode (250, 380 and 480 km from the centre). Places the story only describes, like Utgard Castle or the Reiss chapel, are placed by what the story says about them. The sea between Paradis and Marley is shortened so both fit on one map.

Does everyone get the same scenes?

Yes. Each difficulty has its own five scenes a day, the same for every player, and they change at 00:00 UTC.

Are there spoilers?

The Hard pool includes scenes from The Final Season and The Final Chapters. The game never names an event, only the place and the part of the anime the scene is from.

Do I need an account?

No. You can play as a guest; logging in saves your run across devices, puts you on the daily leaderboard and pays coins and XP.
